San Giovenale

Previous post: The Instituto San Lodovico

San Giovenale is reputed to have been built in 1004 and may be the oldest church in the city. Like all old churches, it bears evidence of change over time, but it is one of the few where you can get a sense of what it would have been like to worship here in the 14th century – when every surface would have been a boldly painted Bible study.
