Go Twins!

I went to the Metrodome tonight to see the Twins play the White Sox.

I haven't been to a baseball game in quite a few years now and it's been a very, very long time since I've seen the Twins play (not being a big fan of large crowds or the dome), but a friend had some good tickets available so it seemed like reason enough to go again.

And, indeed it was. It was mostly a fielder's game, which I find a lot more interesting than a pitching battle - and it was interesting pretty much from the moment it began, kicking off with some early inning broken bats and a stolen base, on to an amazing catch by the Sox mid-game, to the final almost-as-awesome-but-better-because-it- was-the-game-winning catch by the Twins that wrapped things up.

(I just had my pocket camera, so these aren't great shots, but you get the idea.)

It was a blast to see the Twins win, but I hope the Soxman (yes, the Soxman) enjoyed the game too - he added a bit of humor to my evening and his team provided a challenge for the Twins so I didn't need to worry about getting bored by the 7th inning. (Which has been known to happen.)

Now THAT is a dedicated fan. . . or maybe just a lunatic, but he seemed awfully nice.

Better luck next time, Soxman, and come back next year when the Twins are playing in their fancy new outdoor stadium!
